The laparoscopic adjustable gastric band has had an important role in the evolution of bariatric surgery in Australia. That said at Fit Weight Loss Surgery, we do not perform the placement of a laparoscopic adjustable gastric band. This is because we believe that this has been superseded by newer operations, such as the laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy. That said, Dr Valibhoy is happy to advise patients who have had a gastric band placed. Dr Valibhoy's philosophy is to always try and make an existing gastric band work for you (unless you want him to remove it) and will take steps to try and get the gastric band into the "green zone", where you are safe and comfortable with the amount of fluid in your band.
This procedure is not discussed in detail here. However, more information will be made available if needed and Dr Valibhoy will also be able to facilitate a referral for an opinion on placing a gastric band if you feel that you wish to consider this operation further as ultimately, you need to be comfortable with your choice of operation.
